Our Vision

The Tamil Nadu Forests and Wildlife Crime Control Bureau is committed to safeguarding the ecological integrity, biodiversity, and natural heritage of the State by adopting a comprehensive, intelligence-driven, and technology-enabled approach to prevent, detect, investigate, and dismantle organized forest and wildlife crime networks. The Bureau shall ensure strict, consistent, and transparent enforcement of the provisions of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, the Tamilnadu Forest Act, 1882, and other allied environmental legislations, with a special focus on curbing wildlife trafficking, illegal hunting, forest produce smuggling, and crimes affecting endangered and threatened species.

The Bureau shall strengthen inter-agency coordination and operational synergy with State Police, Central enforcement agencies, Customs, Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Coast Guard, Marine Police, and other stakeholders to effectively address trans-boundary and inter-State wildlife crimes. Emphasis shall be placed on capacity building, specialized training, intelligence sharing, and use of modern forensic, cyber, and surveillance technologies to enhance investigation, evidence collection, and successful prosecution of offenders.

Recognizing the critical role of local communities and the public in conservation, the Bureau shall actively promote community awareness, outreach programmes, and participatory enforcement mechanisms to foster public vigilance and stewardship of forest and wildlife resources. Special attention shall be given to the protection of ecologically sensitive areas, forest landscapes, coastal ecosystems, and marine biodiversity, ensuring ecological balance, climate resilience, and sustainable use of natural resources.

Through an integrated approach combining law enforcement, inter-departmental cooperation, community participation, and scientific management, the Bureau aims to secure forests, wildlife, and marine ecosystems of Tamil Nadu for present and future generations, thereby contributing to sustainable development and environmental security of the State.
